Is The Margin legit?
Who makes The Margin, where your data lives, what it costs, what the free plan includes, and where to read reviews by people who use it.
Short answer: yes. The Margin is a real product made by a registered company, it has a free plan with no time limit, and you can try the whole app with no account before you decide anything. I'm Rabee Hanzla and I make it, so rather than ask you to take my word, this page lists the facts you can check yourself and links to where each one is written down.
Who makes The Margin#
The Margin is made by MELIURA LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 17456307, with its registered office at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. The company's entry is public on the Companies House register. I founded it, and I write the field notes about how the product is built. More about me is on my profile page.
Where your data lives#
A full copy of your workspace sits in a database on each device you use, which is why the app opens with no signal. Our server holds the copy that keeps your devices in step, and it is backed up every night. The privacy policy says we do not sell, rent or trade personal information and use no third-party analytics trackers, and the trust page lists where the data is stored and who can see it.
You can export everything on every plan, Free included, and deleting your account deletes your content within 30 days.
What it costs#
There is a free plan with no time limit. Pro, Family and Team are paid monthly or yearly, and every price is on the pricing page. A trial grants the plan you pick, charges nothing while it runs, and does not turn into a subscription on its own.
If a paid plan is not what you expected, the refund policy gives a full refund of a first purchase within 14 days, and anything charged in error is returned whenever you tell us.
What the free plan includes#
Every plan, Free included, has the whole app working offline, all eight themes, the recipe box and the Mind, plus expenses, income and debts. Free has limits on how many of some things you keep (boards, whiteboards, habits), and the plans and limits page lists every one of them. If you are comparing it with a family calendar you already use, the Cozi alternative page sets the two side by side.
Where to read The Margin reviews#
The Margin is new, and there are no store ratings to quote yet. I won't put testimonials on this page that you can't check. As the listings go live, they will be linked here:
- the App Store and Google Play pages, when the phone apps are out of testing;
- the Product Hunt page, on launch day;
- the Discord community, where people who use it talk about it in the open.
Status and incidents are public too, on the status page.
