Everything you write goes somewhere. In most tools it goes into a box and stays there, and the app never reads it again. The filing was the product, and you were the unpaid clerk doing it.
The Mind is the part that reads back. It builds a picture of what you are working on and who you are working with, from material you were already creating, and uses it to answer questions no single note could.
What it holds
Entities. People, projects, places and organisations that keep appearing. Mention Sarah in a note, assign her a card, split an expense with her, and those are recognised as the same Sarah rather than three unrelated strings.
Memories. Durable facts, routines, and conclusions, each with an importance and each traceable back to the note, card or conversation it came from. "I do not eat meat" is a memory. "Can you make me a board for the trip" is not, and is not kept.
Connections. Relationships between things: this note is about that project, this person recurs across these four boards, these two pieces of work are about the same thing under different names.
Wikilinks you write by hand are treated as first-class connections, because a link you made deliberately is better evidence than one inferred.
Where it comes from
Content is indexed as you write it, in batches, and re-indexed when it changes. Edit a note and what the Mind believes updates rather than leaving a stale copy behind. A memory that was true in March and is quietly wrong in August is worse than no memory at all.
Retrieval is by meaning rather than keyword. Asking "did anyone say anything about the wedding" finds the note that discussed it without using the word.
Reading and correcting it
Everything the Mind durably believes about you is listed on the Mind page, in plain sentences. Every line can be edited or deleted.
This is not a personalisation toggle. It is the actual contents, and it is the control that makes the rest of it reasonable. A system that remembers things about you without showing you the list is asking for trust it has not earned, and a wrong entry you cannot see is worse than a missing one, because it misleads every answer that touches it.
Delete a memory and it is gone from retrieval immediately.
What it deliberately does not do
It does not report that Tuesday's breakfast resembled Wednesday's breakfast. Recurrence is not meaning, and an engine that cannot tell the difference floods its own useful output with noise. Finding that out cost us a release.
It does not read the Vault. Locked Vault content is withheld entirely: not filtered from an answer at the end, but never retrieved and never embedded. The distinction matters because a filter is a promise that holds until a bug, and not having the data is a property of the system.
It does not read anything you have marked Hide from memory, which is the per-item version of the same control.
In a shared workspace it is scoped exactly the way your data is. The Mind cannot become a way to learn things about the people you live with that they never told you.
