Some thinking is not a list. Architecture, seating plans, the shape of an argument, a room you are rearranging. Whiteboards are for that.
The canvas
An infinite Excalidraw canvas: shapes, arrows, freehand, text, images, and frames. The hand-drawn look is deliberate, because a diagram that looks provisional gets edited and a diagram that looks finished gets defended.
Boards render a thumbnail in the list so you can find one by shape rather than by remembering its name.
Whiteboards can be exported to PNG, and shared per whiteboard with individual people the same way notes are.
A note on heavy canvases
A large canvas is the one place in the app where sync is paused while you work, then resumed when you leave. This keeps drawing smooth on modest hardware.
The consequence: if something else writes to a whiteboard while you have it open, whether an agent or another device, you will not see it live. Close and reopen the whiteboard and the change is adopted. Everywhere else in the app updates are live; this is the exception, and it is worth knowing before you conclude an agent ignored you.
Canva designs
If your visual work already lives in Canva, the design hub brings it in rather than asking you to move.
- Import a design by link, by upload, or by connecting your Canva account.
- Extract the text and colour palette from a design so it becomes searchable alongside everything else you have written.
- Embed design pages directly onto a whiteboard, so a moodboard and the thinking around it sit on one canvas.
Imported designs are searchable by their extracted text, which means a poster you made in March turns up when you search for the phrase that was on it.
